About Axorbia
Zero Lasting Microplastics

Leaves no microplastics behind, keeps all the performance.

Conventional absorbent-pad constructions often contain conventional synthetic materials. Axorbia is redefining this essential packaging component through compostable pad technology, offering food processors and packaging manufacturers a new option as they pursue more sustainable packaging solutions.

Sustainability-Focused Materials

An innovative alternative to conventional absorbent-pad constructions.

Reliable Moisture Management

Designed to absorb excess liquids and support attractive food presentation.

Support for Packaging Sustainability Goals

A practical product category to evaluate as part of broader packaging sustainability initiatives.

Designed for Food Packaging Applications

Developed with the requirements of commercial food-processing operations in mind.

Why Axorbia

Freshness isn’t a promise. It’s built into every pad.

Since 2005 we have manufactured absorbent pads that pull excess liquid out of meat, poultry, seafood and produce packaging and lock it inside the core — so what reaches the shelf looks as fresh as the day it was packed.

Axorbia Meat Pad under a ribeye steak

Meat Pad

Absorbs the purge from red meat on contact, so the cut never sits in its own liquid.

Axorbia Fish Pad under a salmon fillet on crushed ice

Fish Pad

High-capacity pads that keep fish and seafood dry, clean and presentable right through the cold chain.

Axorbia Fruit Pad under fresh blackberries

Fruit Pad

Draws moisture away from delicate produce, so berries and soft fruit stay firm for longer.

Sustainability Commitment

Rethinking Packaging for a More Sustainable Future.

At Axorbia, we believe sustainability innovation should extend to every component of food packaging.

Our compostable absorbent pad initiative reflects our commitment to developing packaging solutions that combine essential functionality with thoughtful material selection and consideration of end-of-life options.

We work closely with customers to explore innovative absorbent solutions aligned with their packaging and sustainability objectives.

How It Works

Inside an Axorbia pad

A perforated top layer lets liquid pass through in one direction only. The absorbent core — cellulose, or cellulose blended with SAP or SAF — takes it up and holds it. A liquid-tight bottom film keeps everything sealed inside the pad.

Tell us what you are packing, the tray format and how much liquid the pad needs to hold. We match a size and absorbency from our standard range, or build one to your specification, and send samples to run on your own line before you commit.
The perforated top layer draws liquid away from the product and lets it pass in one direction only. The surface in contact with the meat, fish or fruit stays dry, so the product is not sitting in its own purge.
The absorbent core — cellulose, or cellulose blended with SAP or SAF where higher capacity is needed — takes the liquid up and holds it inside the pad, even under the pressure of stacking and transport. Odours are trapped with it.
A liquid-tight bottom film seals the absorbed liquid inside. Pads are supplied individually cut and packed, festooned, or on the roll, so they drop straight into manual packing or an automated line.
